“The Tuinen van West is a combination of old and new landscapes, of romance and frayed edges, of art/culture, (urban) agriculture and healthy products, catering, nature and sports/recreation. A unique area, where as a visitor you can cycle, walk, eat/drink, pick and enjoy.” – Tuinen van West

Fruittuin van West

Our beloved neighbors at the Fruit Garden of the West offer a unique farm-experience at just 4 minutes walking distance. Sprung from the idea to create a place where city and nature meet each other, it offers many things to do for both kids and adults. From hand picking seasonal fruits, gathering fresh eggs, relaxing in the garden cafe with slow coffee, cake or fresh pizza (yum!), a kids play park with mazes, tree swings and a mysterious chicory and mushroom cave.

Also, if you feel like cooking up a delicious seasonal meal in your cabin or suite, there is a grocery store with organic products, selected by taste, heritage and quality.

Stadsgroenteboer

Feel like getting a taste of the authentic vegetable farm life? At just 10-minute walking distance of The Unbound, you can find a 4000m2 patch of land where our friends from the ‘Stadsgroenteboeren’ (the City Vegetable Farmers) are growing over 60 different vegetables and more than 15 herbs for the local community using bio-intensive techniques.

Drop by for a tour and tasting and get to know Andres, Laura, Lisa, Julia and Milo. Gardeners, cooks, bakers, cheese makers, scientists and food entrepreneurs from the Netherlands, Switzerland and Colombia. Their mission is to grow a community around delicious veggies, and it is no wonder they are succeeding.

Rijk van de Keizer

Just around the corner of The Unbound, behind our parking area, we have hidden a special treat for you. The ‘Empire of the Emperor’ (Rijk van de Keizer) is the unique name for this creative event space. From weddings to parties, dinners, meetings and lunch. They organize it all. If you are interested in organizing a private or work related event here, feel free to reach out to our Unbound staff. We can tell you all about the options and options between Rijk van de Keizer and Unbound.

You can also drop by at Cantina (temporarily closed due to COVID-19) , an absolute hidden treasure where you can have breakfast, lunch and occasionally a vegetarian dinner. During winters, Cantina turns into, wait for it, Winter Cantina! Every Saturday: barista coffee, fresh teas, organic juices, homemade lemonade, royal cakes, soups, local beers and appetizers. We love it!

Flower Picking

This sustainable alternative for regular floriculture is a beautiful city garden where you can hand-pick your own field bouquet. From seed to harvest, everything is done by hand. Being fully surrounded by flowers, humming bees, and getting a little creative; we absolutely love it.

Lokale Bloemetjes is situated at just 8 minute walking distance from The Unbound is a great place for kids and adults. They also offer workshops and farm to table dinners.

∗ Because of the absence of machinery usage or greenhouses, Lokale Bloemetjes is dependent on mother nature and is therefore unable to grow plants during winter time.
